BEI Emeritus Fellow Mary Swander’s play “Vang” has been successfully performed multiple times now in Detroit, and has brought the topic of immigration to centerstage. Playwright Swander said regarding the play “It raises questions about the stereotypes that we have about immigrants.”The play portrays migrant farmers from Thailand, Sudan and Mexico, and shows the dangerous conditions they face.
