BEI Emeritus Fellow Petra Kuppers, along with artist Stephanie Heit will be hosting a Post-Conference Workshop titled “Tendings and Eco-poetic Disability Culture: Bodymindspirits of the Future” after the Biennial meeting of the Association for the Study of Literature and Environment. The workshop will offer “an artful space for engagement and resource-sharing” and explore art-based approaches to recognizing and reshaping relations between bodies and the environment. They will lead disability culture exercises from the Tendings curriculum, which are “everyday collaborative ecopoetic practices that combine experiential anatomy, disability culture, eco-specific investigations, somatic exercises, and writing”. Workshop participants will be able to “go on a disability culture exploration of Davis’s campus, drifting indoors and out, explore the walls, floors, doors, air, scents, textures and pathways that surround and support us”.
