An Monday, April 3rd, The Living Archive: African American Poetry will hold Panel Discussion #2: Black Style, Black Language. Poets will include Regie Gibson, a BEI emeritus fellow, Askia Toure, Nicole Terez Dutton, L’Merchie Frazier and Barbara Lewis. Askia Tore and L’merchie Frazier are previous contributors to About Place Journal, BEI’s online publication.
The Living Archive: African American Poetry, a series of panel discussions by poets and writers examining a range of topics that include the importance and significance of African American literature, the ways in which literature has examined and illuminated black identities, the connection between spoken and written word, language styles and culture in black poetry, and the relationship between writers of the past and the present. This series is sponsored by the Boston Poet Laureate Program and Suffolk University’s Clark Collection of African American Literature. Admission is free.
